6’7”, 260-Pound Suspect Allegedly Breaks Patrol Car Window During Escape Attempt HOUSTON COUNTY, Texas — September 3, 2026 — A man arrested on a warrant for assault of a public servant or judge allegedly escaped from a moving Houston County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle after breaking a window. The sheriff’s office said deputies later recaptured him using a Taser. According to the sheriff’s office, Keon Dewayne Leonard was arrested September 3. A struggle occurred while deputies attempted to handcuff him. Because Leonard is 6 feet 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 260 pounds, deputies used two sets of handcuffs. The sheriff’s office said Leonard moved the handcuffs from behind his back to the front while inside the patrol vehicle. He then kicked repeatedly at a window until it broke and attempted to escape through the opening while the vehicle was moving. Released video and photographs show the damaged window and vehicle door. Deputy Cruz pursued Leonard after he exited the vehicle and deployed her Taser, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies regained control of him, placed him in another vehicle and transported him to the Houston County Jail. Leonard faces additional charges of evading arrest, attempting to escape while arrested and destruction of property, in addition to the original assault warrant. KTRE reported that he was being held on a $30,000 bond. The original warrant alleges assault of a public servant or judge. The sheriff’s office identified the warrant as the basis for Leonard’s arrest. #police #cops #crime #policia #polizei #CrimeNews
